Is the recession over? Did the Stimulus bill work?
"he Commerce Department said construction spending increased 0.3 percent in March, the best showing since a similar rise last September. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected spending to drop 1.5 percent for a sixth straight monthly decline.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Realtors said its index of pending home sales rose 3.2 percent to 84.6 in March, the second monthly increase after it hit a record low in January. The pending sales index also is 1.1 percent above last year’s levels. "

Yep it is over Obama’s dream has put 3 to 5 million people back to work and 95% of the country will never have to pay any taxes ever again because of the tax reduction bill that pass…ed wait a minute what tax bill and the 8 jobs created in the California CCC is a tad short of 3 to 5 million oh well he is articulate and wants to sound good and the lower 1/3 and part of the middle 1/3 thinks it has ended.

The economy is still hemorrhaging jobs. The DOW is stable but continues to be on a roller coaster. The only true indication that it is over is more than 2 consecutive months of growth. Even that is no longer a good indicate. All of the signs pointed to recession before Obama took office, yet the economy did not show two consecutive months of contraction until after the DOW took a nosedive. It just goes to show that you cannot take everything you read as fact.

We’re coming out of the recession. The financial community says so, and if I were you I would believe them in their area of expertise, regardless of what the GOP is saying. They try to use unemployment as a metric for the economy, but anyone who has taken a high school econ. class knows that it’s a lagging indicator (very slow to react to recovery, compared to "leading indicators" like the stock market and the value of building materials).

Anyone who says Obama’s stimulus worked or didn’t work is lying to you. The truth is, the stimulus money is only starting to be spent, and we won’t be able to see the cumulative effect for several months.

The stimulus bill isn’t even in affect yet. Any good signs now are what George Bush did. Sorry to burst your bubble, but government stuff has a lag time of 6months to a year.

Recession not over., stimulus bill still in the works.
I think we’ll see a short and quick jump in all the figures but it’s not going to stop the recession all together. More has to be done.
The worst thing that could happen right now is a push for free healthcare and several more baiout programs so., ., ., that’s probably what Obama is going to do.
Wait for a natural slump in US economy.,
work to cripple US economy while.,
you inplace every program that’s been on the Democratic plate for 20 years.,
then work to build economy back up.,
    THAT IS THE PLAN!

Existing homes are selling at a loss. We are losing 600,000 jobs a week. Chrysler went bankrupt and GM will soon follow. So will ancillary businesses in the auto industry. Dealers are selling inventory at rock bottom prices. How will they see enough profit to restock? Why should I buy a new car now when I don’t know what I’ll be fueling with in the near future? There may be a record number of home sales, which I doubt but even so there will be a record number of Sheriff sales. We are in strange territory. It wouldn’t be wise to go by indexes when the picture they are showing could be from abnormal circumstances. Where will capital for new jobs come from? No liberal bias is fantasy.

And the improved Housing Market :

    "By Adam Edelman
    Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)–Shares of Owens Corning (OC) rose as much as 21% Wednesday on a particularly strong day for home builders, which were boosted in part by the gain in the National Association of Home Builders’ Housing Market Index to its highest point in six months.

The HMI, an index for sales of new single-family homes, rose to 14 in April from 9 in March, sending shares of home builders such as Lennar Corp. (LEN), Beazer Homes USA Inc. (BZH), and D.R. Horton Inc. (DHI), soaring."

GM is going bankrupt even after the bailouts, even more people loosing their jobs and homes. I just hope things improve soon but the national debt might just be too big to handle without huge tax increases. We are going to have to get used to doing more with less. Our parents America is over hopefully we can get it right for our children.

The Recession will be officially over this fall.

The Stock Market has already started with its recovery.

Jobs should increase during the Summer as the weather gets better on the East Coast and the Mid West, because the Stimulus Bill includes a number of Construction Jobs and Road Repair jobs.
