    We have to understand that the lolitas portrayed in the story are following a sub-culture. Sub-cultures here are never really close to the pure beliefs of their origins in other countries. A lot of youths pick up sub-cultures that are diluted. It’s important to note that this movie is in the Singapore social context. There are those who stay true to the code of conduct but there are also those who follow the fad.

    I think Kym is brave to accept a role that is totally different from her TV personality. Movie is about make-believe, why protray something that we are so used to?

    Pretentious or not, I think this film has set a bench mark for Singapore Films and I can safely mention, way better than Jack Neo’s films.

    As I was reading the movie’s website (goneshoppingthemovie dot com) synopsis, I think the movie is a satire on the three characters seen in the trailer, the tai tai, the gothic lolita and the LAN-gaming boy. Definitely people we see all the time in malls!
