    If …
    soccom8341576:

If you can afford to save and plan. The average cost of medical expenses for a family in the U.S. is over $900 a month.

Universal health care has proven itself demonstrably better in any advanced nation that has it.

3rd and last answer to an obvious question: because health insurance companies make a brick ton of money. Also health insurance companies do not make money by paying out claims. Google a bit, for example: “health insurance claims denied”.

  2. Yogurt721 Said,

    re: 1st para: what …
re: 1st para: what this has to do with health insurance is beyond me.

re: 2nd para: medicare pays out 97 cents on the dollar (97%), leaving 3 cents (3%) to administrative costs. The average private insurance company only pays out 80 cents (80%) of its proceeds.

re: 3rd para: 45% of all personal bankruptcy cases in the U,S. are due to medical expenses. Outside of those who have no insurance, a bigger case can be made of millions who are under insured because they cannot afford proper coverage.

  3. shamanprincess0 Said,

    America is the …
America is the worst in health care as bad as 3rd world country without healthcare

  4. tangent272 Said,

    It’s frankly kind …
It’s frankly kind of bizarre seeing that there are people here who think the American system of insurance based healthcare actually works (or at least that there isn’t anything better).

And what’s with the fear of universal healthcare, ie’ the way *every* civilised country does it? You already pay more than anyone else in the world and get the *worst care* in the developed world (actually, there are 3rd world nations that do better). How could it possibly be worse?

BTW, in aus we pay 1%

  5. tangent272 Said,

    Different systems …
Different systems have different strengths and different weaknesses. Communism, for example, has a problem with personal motivation. Capitalism, on the other hand, has a *serious* problem with collective action and/or giving stuff away.

Running your whole country on one system, to the exclusion of all else, guarantees that at least some parts of it won’t work. This is why America, with its extremely radical version of capitalism, has the worst health care system in the developed world.

  6. soccom8341576 Said,

    You do know that …
You do know that you don’t have privacy anymore. I hope you do know that government agents can search your house, take your property and life anytime they want with no reason nor accountability.

All I’m saying is that there is no free lunch. Government has always been inefficient in the long term, so if you put in $1 in tax, government will return $0.50 or less. It’s inefficient, bureaucratic, and you WILL GET WORSE CARE.

It comes down to personal responsibility and crisis planning.

  7. soccom8341576 Said,

    If you save and …
If you save and plan and make some insurance, you won’t get bankrupted or be left penniless.
US healthcare is not good, but neither is universal healthcare.
You will pay more taxes, everything will cost more and you will get less healthcare.
Why would private healthcare encourage greed? Why would one want to be greedy on healthcare?

  8. governslayer Said,

    big pharma,the …
big pharma, the medical est.are a bunch of ing crooks.there is no money in healthy people and they know this.this whole system will never be overhauled because theres to much money wrapped up in it.if people become healthy these s go ing tits up.

  9. nosferotica1 Said,

    You do know that …
You do know that the USA is one of only 5 countries that doesn’t have a sort of universal health care system? And countries with Universal health care provide better care than the United states?

Did you know you can go to Columbia and Saudi Arabia and get better health care than you could in the United States?

AND DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT AMERICANS ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WITH PRIVACY AND LIBERTY?

    COME ON!

  10. Struckgold Said,

    I think that there …
I think that there is no drive to change the system because there are great profits to be had in treating people who are ill – mostly ill because of bad lifestyles.

  11. RemyFasolla Said,

    A paradigm shift …
A paradigm shift would be the smart move. What do we really value?

  12. pongman Said,

  13. LordEarth69 Said,

    its all about the …
its all about the money, why is it all ways about the money

  14. bedfordpreneur Said,

    Businesses often …
Businesses often pay $700 or more per month per employee to provide healthcare coverage. They then pass these costs on to customers. So we all pay for healthcare through higher prices. If we obtain Universal Healthcare, it is unlikely that companies will decrease prices. So our taxes will go up and prices will remain the same for goods and services, so we’ll be double billed for healthcare.

  15. AsheIsTheRaven Said,

    It’s common logic …
It’s common logic in Eurpoed that the sooner you trat people the more affordable healthcare becomes. Treated people are healthier and less likey to need more expensive care. the logic of this nation surpasses belief

  16. seeksthetruth7 Said,

    They aren’t talking …
They aren’t talking about socialized medicine, they are talking about making companies that get rewarded for thier patients health, not thier sickness. Look at the comment below, ridiculous, yes the Canadian and other systems are not perfect either but at least people of all types can get treatment and that should be the whole point, not a big cash grab. Excellent Idea put forth by the video.

  17. seeksthetruth7 Said,

    you are so wrong …
you are so wrong about that, at least I can get help when I need it and don’t get wheeled out to the street to die. You must work for the Insurance companies because they are the only ones who think US health care is good. Drugs are cheaper here, people come from the US to buy them so what are you talking about? Private health care encourages greed. yes I pay more tax so what? my people take care of each other, whats wrong with that? You must be rich enough not to care lol

  18. intercourseman69 Said,

    evidence for what, …
evidence for what, i only have 500 characters in one comment, but i sure as can give so evidence if you want some. to whatever it is you are referring. i don’t think i need evidence to say that people hate intercourseman69, youtube has it documented that they will censor, and i can show you historical and current evidence about the exploitation of the corporate medical industry

  19. soccom8341576 Said,

    Universal health …
Universal health care sounds good. We all want to have health care at the lowest cost possible. But this sort of socialized monstrosity doesn’t work.
Here in Hong Kong, the quality of “free” health care deteriorates, longer waiting list for very simple surgery.
With this soocialized medicine, the drug companies will have even more monopoly, more profit and no one would care what you say, because their powerful voice in the government will own you.
No privacy, no liberty and more expensive.

  20. Command37 Said,

    i’m getting fed up …
i’m getting fed up of the BS that goes on in this country, FIGHT THE RICH, NOT THEIR WARS!!

  21. mand1sh3p Said,

    Hell the govt …
the govt creates half the diseases they cure and treat.

  22. lookingOK Said,

    Great information.. …
Great information…wish you all the best..people are waking up(no one i know!) but they are!

  23. pongman Said,

I told her that her …
I told her that her HMO doctor didn’t want to see her because she was costing him money. By having less personnel to answer the phone and taking two hour lunches was in his best interest and taking care of her wasn’t. She was over utilizing her insurance and costing him more. He basically wanted her to go find another doctor by not returning her calls; which is easy to do by ignoring patients who are sick. HMO’s pay doctors by the head and its called capitation, but you don’t want sicko’s.

  24. pongman Said,

    In regards to your …
In regards to your incentive program of paying physicians more for keeping people healthy and not when they get sick is already in service with the HMO’s. The problem is that no one will take care of the sick people. The sick people will get dumped and left to some poor smuck of a doctor who believes in taking care of sick people and making them well. A case in point. I had a pt. who had a hard time getting an appt. she had diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.

  25. Jevezy Said,

    Pharmaceutical and …
Pharmaceutical and insurance companies spend millions of dollars on lobbyist who work on Capitol Hill. They are there to persuade our politicians not to sign on to the universal health care. They scare people in America that universal health care is bad, that people do not receive good treatment. They claim that universal health care is socialized medicine and that is only for socialist countries.
